โ Issue/Question
- We have Portals to share with the press and it works great, but we noticed that if we create sub-collections in a collection, even if it is not shared, the folder shows up with its cover; there is nothing shared since it is empty, but the cover with a photo is visible and shows that this collection exists
- Sub-collections of a collection shared in a Portal appear to external users even when they hold no media the Portal can show
ย
ย
๐ Resolution/Answer
- This is the current behavior of Portals and has been reported to the product team as an improvement
ย
-
Workaround A
- Move the match media out of the parent collection into a dedicated sub-collection, for example
X vs Y (Photo match) - In the Portal settings, share the individual sub-collections instead of the parent collection
- Sub-collections that hold no media with the Portal's tag do not appear to external users
- Move the match media out of the parent collection into a dedicated sub-collection, for example
-
Workaround B
- Set the media inside the sub-collections you don't want shown to
Private - This also hides them from other users in your organization, so use it only when that is acceptable
- Set the media inside the sub-collections you don't want shown to
ย
๐ฅ Cause
- When a parent collection is shared in a Portal, the Portal displays all its sub-collections with their cover, whether or not they contain media that match the Portal's sharing settings
ย
๐ Notes
- Removing the viewer account type from the media access does not hide the sub-collection
- Portal is not showing Sub-collectionsย
