โ Issue/Question
- The upload screen shows
Hooray, your upload is in! We're processing X files.but the collection shows fewer media than that number - The platform said the file is uploaded, but it's not in the collection
ย
๐ Resolution/Answer
-
Check whether the missing files are duplicates
- Compare the file names in your upload folder with the media in the collection
- Look for copies of the same photo with a number added to the name, such as DSC_0073.jpg and DSC_0073 (1).jpg
- If the collection has one copy of each missing file, nothing was lost: ScorePlay kept one copy and removed the duplicate
-
Upload the same file again on purpose
- Make a small change to the file and save it. Any change, even an invisible one, gives it a new hash
- Upload the changed file to the collection again
- If you can't find a copy of a missing file in the collection, reach out to the ScorePlay Support team via Live Chat with the collection link and the file names
ย
๐ฅ Cause
- The upload count includes every file you selected. Deduplication then removes files that are identical to another file in the same upload or to media already in the collection
- ScorePlay spots duplicates by the file's hash, a fingerprint of its content, so a copy is removed even with a new name
ย
๐ Notes
- Duplicates often come from downloading or copying the same photos twice, which creates files named X (1).jpg or X (2).jpg
- If you upload the same folder to a collection again, files already in that collection are also removed as duplicates
- Uploading a photo that is already in the collection creates a duplicateย
