❓ Issue/Question
- Most searches for X are useless as they pick up a completely different player; is there a way to filter out certain tags or player profiles as you search?
- A broad search returns media of a similarly named player, or media where several players are tagged, and you want only the one you searched for
👌 Resolution/Answer
- Select the player from the suggestions rather than pressing Enter, so the search runs on the player tag instead of the free text, which also matches file names and descriptions
- Use the advanced search to exclude a tag: add the player you want, then add the player or tag you do not want as an excluded tag; media carrying the excluded tag drop out of the results
- Filter to media with a single player tag when you only want that player: in the filters, set the number of players to one, so group shots with other tagged players are left out
- Stack more tags, such as an event or an action, to narrow the results further
🥚 Cause
- A free-text search matches the words across tags, file names and descriptions, so a name shared by two players, or a word in a description, pulls in unrelated media
🔖 Notes
- Excluding a tag only affects the current search; it does not hide the player from other users or searches
- Admins who want to hide media permanently for a user should use tag restrictions instead
