I can't create a sub-collection

❓ Issue/Question

• What features must be enabled so that the X account type can create a sub-collection directly from the collection (using the 3 dots)?
• I'm not able to create sub-collections
• If I go to X collection, it doesn't give me the sub collection option, just NEW > Collection

👌 Resolution/Answer

• Check the account type permissions
  • To create a sub-collection, the Collection management > Can create collection permission must be enabled on your account
    • Account Type Permissions Overview 
  • To create it from the … (3 dots) menu of a collection, the Collection management > Can edit permission must also be enabled
  • Please contact your platform administrator to request that these permissions be enabled for your account

• Create it from the collection
  • Open the parent collection
  • Click the … (3 dots) at the top right, next to Share
  • Select Create Sub-collection
  • Fill in the details of the sub-collection
  • Click Create

• Create it from Collection Management
  • Go to Configure > Collection Management
  • Click New
  • In the Parent collection field, search for and select the parent collection
  • Fill in the details of the sub-collection
  • Click Create

• The Can edit permission also gives access to Edit, External Upload Link and Generate Masv Upload Link in the … (3 dots) menu
• Creating it from the collection is quicker, because the parent is set for you
• Clicking New while you're inside a parent in Collection Management doesn't fill in the Parent collection field
